Kufstein, with its impressive medieval fortress, lies in the scenic Inn Valley, more or less on the Austrian-German border. It is the main district town and as such, has an extensive infrastructure. Its close proximity to the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental ski area, makes it a popular choice for a short skiing break. A selection of Wintersport activities available in Kufstein and in the resorts in the Wilder Kaiser Brixental region include:

- Ice skating (natural rink) / Tobogganing / Cross country skiing / Winter walks on cleared walking paths / Night skiing (lift pass supplement payable - Söll) / Indoor swimming pool with sauna (Söll) / Horse drawn sleigh or carriage rides (weather dependent – Söll)

Kufstein’s amenities include a wide range of shops, cafés, bars, doctors, banks and public facilities. There is also a main line train service to Innsbruck, Salzburg and Munich.

In a recent survey on the “Top Resort” internet platform, the Skiwelt was placed 4th best in a list of 4000 skiing regions worldwide!

A new 8 seater gondola, the “Skiwelt-Kitzbüheler Alpen” lift, planned to be completed for Winter 2008-09, will complete the final connection in the Skiwelt between the resorts of Brixen and Westendorf. As Westendorf is already connected to Kirchberg (in the Kitzbühel region), by the Ki-West gondola, this new lift will connect the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental to Kitzbühel-Kirchberg. The entire region, known as the “Kitzbüheler Alpen” will then be one of the three largest interconnecting ski resorts in the world, and covered by one lift pass, the “Kitzbüheler Alpen” pass (upgrade on the Skiwelt lift pass). The following information relates to the entire Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental ski region:

Resort altitude: 703 – 1829 metres
Piste: 250 / Blue 108 kms / Red 120 kms / Black 22 kms
Number of lifts: 89 / Cable car 1 / Gondola 11 / Chairlifts 38 / Drag lifts 39
Snow Cannons: 700, which cover 110 kilometres of piste
Cross Country Trails: 150 kilometres
Mountain Huts: 70
Snowboarding: There are 3 funparks in the region, 1 boarderX trail, 3 half-pipes, jumps, corners, boxes and slides.
Ski Bus Service: A free ski bus service operates from Kufstein to the main lift station in Söll.
