Resort Description
Kaprun is set at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier and offers an excellent range of skiing, including high altitiude skiing with guaranteed snow.
The Kaprun lift pass covers the Kaprun and Zell am See areas which are connected by ski bus.
The village has a wide variety of bars and restaurants and the 'Optimum Sports Centre' has fantastic facilities.
Apres Ski
Lively bars and discos, as well as more quaint, rustic restaurants and pubs. 'Optimum' Sports Centre with indoor pool and fitness studio. Indoor tennis and squash centre. Small ice skating rink. Sledging. Sleigh rides. Horse-drawn sleigh rides. Bowling.
Skiing
Beginners
Nursery slopes are close to the village centre on the Lechnerberg. Beginners can progress from here to the numerous easy runs of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier.
Intermediates
There is a good range of skiing in and around Kaprun . There are 130km of pistes and 58 lifts available in the Kaprun/Zell am See Europa Ski region.
Advanced
There is good contrast between wide open pistes and superb powder of the glacier bowl in this area.. There are seven black runs throughout the region, some with vicious moguls. There are some challenging pistes on Zell am See's Schmittenhohe Mountain.
Snowboarding
Kaprun welcomes snowboarding and has a good reputation amongst snowboarders, who consider its terrain some of the best in Europe. It has recently played host to the annual 'Snowboard UK' board test. |
